Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is unavailable for today's IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants. Sharma was hit on the knee during a net session and has been ruled out of the match. MI captain Hardik Pandya confirmed the news during the toss, saying, "Rohit got hit in the knee in nets and he misses out." Mumbai Indians have made two changes to their playing XI. Will Jacks replaces Sharma, while Raj Angad Bawa makes his debut, coming in for Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Sharma, who has played three matches this season, scored 20 runs while opening the innings. In the last two games, the former MI captain was used as an Impact Player.
This match marks the first meeting between the two teams this season. Both franchises have had a mixed start with one win and two losses from their first three matches. Lucknow Super Giants hold a significant edge in past encounters. They have won five of the six IPL meetings between the sides. Mumbai Indians' only win came in the 2023 season eliminator.

"We are gonna bowl first. Looks like a fresh wicket. Not sure how it is going to play. Looks a decent track. Dew might come in later. Thought better to chase. I think we in a group have spoken that we don't want to talk about the wickets. We are here to play good cricket. That's the talk we have. Let's not talk about the surfaces. I think adaptation," Hardik Pandya said during toss.
"I think we are pretty confident as a batting unit. A very strong unit. Few of our players haven't come off including me. We had talked to play in this fashion throughout the tournament. The general discussion is to go our there and express yourself. We haven't talked about target we want to achieve. Just play the ball and watch the ball and react," Pant said.
