West Indies Cricket Team vs South Africa National Cricket Team Toss Update: South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl against West Indies in a Super 8 Group 1 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
South Africa captain Aiden Markram said the surface looked “a bit tacky” and his side would look to make early use of the conditions. The Proteas named an unchanged XI as they chase a semifinal berth.
West Indies captain Shai Hope said his team would have preferred to bowl first as well but backed his batters to put up a competitive total. West Indies made one change, bringing in Roston Chase in place of Akeal Hosein in what Hope described as a tactical switch.
Both teams entered the contest unbeaten in five matches and after winning their respective Super 8 openers. South Africa beat India by 76 runs in Ahmedabad, while West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 107 runs. The winner will secure a spot in the semifinals, the losing side will have one more opportunity in its final Super 8 fixture.
