Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has revealed that he was hit by a nail during India’s match against Pakistan in Peshawar, following Pakistan Cricket Board’s complaints over alleged “inappropriate crowd behavior” in Ahmedabad.

PCB lodged a complaint to ICC after Pakistan’s seven-wicket loss against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

Speaking on commentary during India’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, Pathan revealed that he was hit by a nail which caught him close to the eye while playing in Peshawar.

“We were playing a game in Peshawar, when a fan threw a nail at me, which struck me under my eye. I could have gotten seriously injured. The match was halted for 10 minutes, but we did not pay any heed to it as we were playing good cricket,” Pathan said on commentary.

Following this revelation, former India batter Aakash Chopra took to social media platform, ‘X’, backing Pathan for coming out with the story. Pathan replied to Chopra’s post saying, he brought up this topic in light of the narrative being set around India’s match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad.

“I would have taken to my grave brother because I think fans are the utmost important to this game and things do happen. But the narrative is set differently now days with some people trying to spread unnecessary negativity for their own benefit. So I spoke. Love you brother,” Pathan posted on ‘X’.Pathan was one of the star performers during India's tour of Pakistan winning both One-Day and Test series under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid/

PCB had filed a complaint alleging that visas for Pakistani journalists and fans weren’t provided, along with inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad.

Following their loss against India, Pakistan will be looking to bounce back when they take on Australia at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20.
