Mumbai Indians, who have won the most number of titles in the IPL, have been disappointing this season. Mumbai have lost all eight of their matches so far. So now there is talk that Rohit Sharma will leave the captaincy of Mumbai Indians

In 2009, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Kevin Pietersen was sacked in mid-season. After that, Anil Kumble was given the captaincy. Kumble led RCB to the final.

In 2012, the Deccan Chargers removed Kumar Sangakkara from the captaincy in the middle of the season. Cameron White was also named captain. The Deccan Chargers are no longer in the IPL.

In the 2012 IPL, RCB had made Virat Kohli its captain, removing Daniel Vettori from the team. RCB finished fifth that season.

Mumbai Indians had replaced Rohit Sharma as captain in the 2013 IPL by removing Ricky Ponting from the captaincy in the middle of the season. After that, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title for the first time.

In 2013, Kings XI Punjab removed Adam Gilchrist from the captaincy in the middle of the season. David Hussey was then named captain.

Gautam Gambhir, a two-time IPL champion for Kolkata, was appointed captain by Delhi in 2018. However, due to unsatisfactory performance, Gambhir left the captaincy in the middle of the season. Shreyas Iyer was then made the captain of Delhi.

In the 2019 IPL, Rajasthan Royals replaced Steve Smith as captain in the middle of the season. However, Rajasthan's performance was disappointing. In the end, the team finished seventh in the standings.

Dinesh Karthik is doing well this IPL season. However, he left the captaincy after a poor performance in the 2020 IPL. Eoin Morgan was then appointed captain.

David Warner was removed from the captaincy by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the middle of IPL 2021. He was replaced by Ken Williamson. However, this decision was not as beneficial as it should have been.
