In what can be called as a big news for all Mumbai Indians fans, The England & Wales Cricket Board is set to revisit their earlier decision on ‘not allowing Jofra Archer for IPL 2022’.

According to a InsideSport report, Archer has once again gone through scans for his elbow & results have been very posiitve. According to reports in few UK papers, ECB can re-visit their decision next month & may allow Archer for few matches in IPL 2022, though it still stays a very remote possibility.

MI picked Archer at the auction for whooping 8 Crore. The selection of the 26-year-old was based on him being available in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

ECB right from the beginning was insistent that Archer can’t join IPL this season. Wary that sending a centrally contracted player like Archer to the IPL for his comeback would not be a good look. Former England director of cricket Ashley Giles blocked such an eventuality. Even, The Daily Telegraph has reported that this subject could be re-visited next month.

The paper reports that ECB will not rush Archer this year for the test matches but a T20 return is a possibility. The report further claims that Archer could feature in The Hundred & may be allowed to play few games in IPL.

Archer is already training alongside his England colleagues & may also travel to Carribbean along with the team.

Archer has played just six of England’s 26 Test matches since the start of 2020 and he has not represented his country in any format since the T20 series in India last March.

Mumbai Indians made a major coup by securing the signing of Jofra Archer for 8 crores despite the best efforts of his old team Rajasthan Royals to get him back.
