Mumbai Indians (MI) speedster Jofra Archer on Wednesday, April 26,slammed fake news of leaving the ongoing IPL 2023 to have elbow surgery in Belgium.

This came after reports suggested that Archer flew abroad to visit a specialist during his absence from the team (four games on the trot) before returning to India.

The report added that the England pacer had minor surgery after experiencing discomfort in a joint and needed two operations, which kept him away from international cricket for nearly two years.

"Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy. Who ever the reporter is shame on you , an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem," the post read.

Earlier The Telegraph stated in a report, “The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that Archer had visited his specialist in Belgium. It is understood that, after assessment by the specialist, Archer underwent what sources describe as ‘a minor procedure’, before returning to India,”

Archer played just 2 matches this season. In the 2023 edition of the IPL, he managed to scalp 1 wicket and conceded 75 runs at an economy of 9.38. He even missed the recent match of Mumbai Indians against Gujarat Titans they lost by 55 runs.

Archer has not played a single first-class match in more than two years. It all started with a stress fracture injury in February of 2021, which was followed by a recurring pain in his right elbow which led to series of surgeries.

Archer, in the process, missed Ashes, IPL 2022, T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022 respectively. He made a comeback at the SA 20 league in January this year where he represented MI Cape Town.

Archer, who was bought by MI at IPL 2022 mega auction, returned to the T20 league this year and played his first game for the five-time champions vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 2 before he was ruled out again.

Archer's career has been cut short due to injuries over the past couple of years.
