Google has rolled out Year in Search 2023 in which the company has highlighted most searched people across various categories. The report by Google also includes names of most searched athletes around the world and that also includes cricketers.

As per Google’s report, the most searched cricketer in the world on Google in 2023 is New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra. The Indian-origin opening batter stood at 8th spot in the global athletes list dominated by Damar Hamlin. India’s star batter Shubman Gill is right behind Rachin Ravindra at 9th spot.

Gill came in at ninth, a spot ahead of popular NBA figure, Kyrie Irving.

Gill's splendid year began with him opening for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League and helping them reach the final for a second year in a row. The youngster closed his year by assuming the captaincy of the Titans while also helping India reach the final of the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. By the end of 2023, Gill was the best-ranked ODI batter among his peers, ahead of giants of the game Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, and others.

Rachin Ravindra made the cut ahead of the Indian batter, coming in at number eight. Ravindra broke into the limelight in the ODI World Cup, where his masterful displays helped New Zealand reach the semi-final.

Gill served as the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 cricket team in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and won Player of the Tournament award.

Commenting on the sports sector, this year saw the hosting of major tournaments like ODI World Cup, IPL, Asia Cup and Women's Premier League.

He became the highest run-scorer in the IPL 2023 season. With this, he won the Orange Cap for the first time. Meanwhile, Gill has been recorded as the highest run-scorer in all three formats of cricket in the year 2023. He has a total of 45 internationals in the current year

Gill also achieved the feat of scoring a double century in ODIs this year. Gill became the fourth Indian to score a double century in ODIs with 208 off 149 balls against New Zealand.
