Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has been injured in a car accident in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.Pant was driving his Mercedes when the car hit a divider on the highway leading to national capital Delhi. He was alone in the car.

The cricketer managed to break a window and exit his car before it caught fire. This is not the first time cricketer's have injured themselves in road accidents.

Mohammed Shami met with a road accident on his way to Delhi in 2018. He got stitches after getting head injuries. He was travelling in a car from Dehradun. He was treated at the CMI hospital in Dehradun by plastic surgeon Tarun Jain.

Karun Nair survived an accident when he was trapped in a boat that capsized in a Kerala river.Nair battled the deep waters of river Pampa in Kerala after the big snake boat he was in sunk during the famous ‘Aranmula Vallasadya’ (boat feast).The young Karnataka cricketer was going to a temple as thanksgiving for making his limited overs India debut in Zimbabwe. The accident took place when the boat was about to reach the temple (Aranmulala). According to reports, Karun Nair had to swim some distance and managed to stay afloat till he was rescued by boats. Six people died and several went missing.

In January 2015, West Indies' Nicholas Pooran had a terrible accident. Puran could not even walk after that. Puran had undergone surgery on both his legs. He was in a wheelchair for a few months. But Pooran made a stubborn comeback.

In February 2020, West Indies fast bowler Oshane Thomas had a major accident in Jamaica. Thomas' car was completely overturned in this accident. But fortunately Thomas was not seriously injured. The doctor had advised him to rest.

There have also been some unfortunate incidents of cricketers dying in accidents. West Indies batsman Runako Morton is an unfortunate cricketer who died in an accident. Runako Morton died in a horrific accident on March 4, 2012
