Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj continued his red-hot form against New Zealand as well, and in the series opener on Wednesday (January 18), he picked up another four-fer.

The first ODI of the three-match series between India and New Zealand took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

It was the first time Siraj played at his home ground as an Indian cricketer. He made the most of the opportunity by finishing the game as Men in Blue's leading wicket-taker.

To make his first game in Hyderabad even more memorable, his mother and friends were present in the stands to cheer for him. And he didn’t disappoint any of them. He dismissed four Kiwi batters for 46 runs in his 10-over spell.

After the end of the game, the BCCI released a video on their social accounts showing the pacer's family and friends talking about him and watching him play.

Siraj's mother was proud to see her son perform live before her and said that she is hoping the pacer will make India proud and will continue his good performances in the coming games as well.

"Mai allah ka shukr ada krti hoon ki mera beta India ka naam roshan kare, mere bacche ka performance aur acha rahe, mera baccha aur aage jaye, World Cup bhi khele mera baccha (I would like to thank Allah and hope that Siraj can continue to shine for India. Hopefully, he can continue his performances and make it into the World Cup squad)," she said.

The video also featured many of Siraj’s childhood friends, with whom he played cricket. They all also wished him good luck in his future.

Siraj was India's leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2022, and in 2023 as well, he has built on that performance. In four matches played this year, he has picked up a total of 13 wickets.

Siraj has been in prime form in ODIs.

He was last seen in action against Sri Lanka where he shined with the ball.

In Jasprit Bumrah's absence Siraj has taken over the responsibility of India's senior pacer.
