Young Indian all-rounder Rahul Tewatia stole the show with his batting heroics for Rajasthan Royals in their clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Sunday. Tewatia slammed a sensational knock of 53 runs off just 31 balls laced with seven sixes to help the Royals pull off the biggest chase in the history of IPL.

Chasing a staggering target of 224 runs, the Royals got off to a shaky start as they lost opener Jos Buttler (4) cheaply before captain Steve Smith and Sanju Samson slammed half-centuries apiece to keep their team in the hunt.

While Smith scored 50 off 27 balls, Samson continued his dream run with the willow and top-scored with a cracking 85 off just 42 balls. Samson once again looked in destructive touch as he single-handedly slaughtered the KXIP bowling attack.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal helped the side post a massive total of 223/2, after being sent in to bat at the iconic Sharjah cricket stadium in match nine of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Sunday.

Steve Smith who won the toss and opted to bowl first. Buttler and Ankit Rajpoot came in place of Yashasvi Jaiswal and David Miller. KXIP went in with an unchanged squad.

Tewatia had scored just 14 runs off the first 21 balls he faced in his innings but went on to finish his innings on 53 off just 31 balls, scoring 39 runs off the last ten balls he faced. His five sixes off an over completely turned the game in Rajasthan Royals' favour as the Smith-led side chased down the target of 224 runs with three balls to spare to win the game by four wickets. Tewatia was lauded by many for his heroics including Yuvraj Singh, who praised his efforts and jokingly thanked him for missing one ball in Cottrell's over which saw him miss the record of six sixes in an over.

Yuvraj remains the only Indian to have hit six sixes in a T20I game. He achieved the feat against Stuart Broad in India's clash against England in the 2007 World T20. "Mr @rahultewatia02 na bhai na thanks for missing one ball ! What a game congratulations to rr for a spectacular win !!! #RRvKXIP @mayankcricket great knock @IamSanjuSamson brilliant," tweeted Yuvraj after Rajasthan stunned KXIP.
