45 junior artistes working on Akshay Kumar-starrer Ram Setu have tested positive for COVID-19. According to a report by ETimes, a crew of 100 people was supposed to join the set of the film on April 5 in Mumbai’s Madh Island. However, Akshay Kumar and film’s producer Vikram Malhotra decided to make it mandatory for everyone to get tested. Reports of 45 out of 100 junior artistes who took the Covid-19 test came out positive. Akshay Kumar, who recently tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, has been self-quarantining at home. The actor took to his social media to announce, "I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for Covid-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself."

Akshay Kumar has been hospitalised as a 'precautionary measure, under medical advice'. According to reports, the actor is admitted to Mumbai's Hiranandani hospital. Confirming the news, Akshay wrote on social media, “Thank you everyone for all your warm wishes and prayers, they seem to be working. I am doing fine, but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home soon. Take care. On Sunday, April 4, Akshay revealed on social media that he had been tested positive for Covid-19. Akshay Kumar shared a note on Instagram that reads, “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself. I'm under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care. I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care. Back in action very soon. In the past week, a number of other Bollywood actors were diagnosed with Covid-19.  Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Govinda, Aamir Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Manoj Bajpayee, Paresh Rawal, Tara Sutaria, R Madhavan, Sidhant Chaturvedi, Satish Kaushik and Bappi Lahiri, were diagnosed with the illness.
