On Sunday, shocking reports emerged that gunshots were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, Mumbai, with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claiming responsibility on social media. Despite the alarming incident, a Mid Day report stated that Shetty is preparing to begin shooting Golmaal 5 from February 15, 2025. However, the production will now follow heightened safety protocols. A member of the film’s creative team revealed that the shoot was scheduled to commence in Mumbai after February 15, but any changes to the timeline will depend on Shetty’s decision and necessary police clearances.

Although there is no official confirmation on whether the Golmaal 5 shoot will be delayed, Mid Day sources indicated that a strict two-tier security system will be enforced on set. This will include local police personnel along with Shetty’s personal security team. An insider disclosed that the filmmaker will operate within a highly restricted, access-controlled zone, limited to select individuals. Everyone entering the set—ranging from junior artistes and vendors to daily-wage crew—will need prior registration and ID verification, with no on-the-spot entries allowed. Vehicle movement will also be tightly monitored and pre-approved.

Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is also involved in the biopic of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, starring John Abraham and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film’s shooting remains incomplete, with sources of Mid Day revealing that Shetty was in Ooty for a recce until January 30. Earlier, filming had taken place in South Mumbai until mid-January, with around two weeks of work still pending. However, following the firing incident, the remaining schedule is now under review. The incident has deeply unsettled the film industry. Notably, Golmaal 5, first announced in 2019, was revived last year after a renewed announcement by Shetty.
