Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom will see a theatrical release on May 28, the makers confirmed on Friday. "Countdown begins! #Bellbottom to release in cinemas near you on 28th May, 2021!" a tweet from the film`s production house Pooja Entertainment read. Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani also confirmed with a tweet: "Mark your calendar #Bellbottom arrives in cinemas near you on 28th May, 2021!". Apart from Akshay and Vaani, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta and Adil Hussain in lead roles. The director of the film is Ranjit M Tewari.

Bell Bottom was the first major Bollywood film to began and complete shooting amid the coronavirus pandemic. In August 2020, the cast and crew of the film went to the UK to shoot the film and wrapped up the same on September 30.Earlier, in an interview with an entertainment portal, talking about shooting for the film during the coronavirus pandemic, Akshay Kumar said, "It's teamwork and I am grateful to each and every member of the cast and crew. The new normal has made us realise a different way of working that none of us could have imagined. I hope this encourages film industries globally to do what they do best and start entertaining audiences again. I hope our shoot during the pandemic reassures others that keeping all safety in mind it’s time to get things moving again.”Akshay Kumar will essay the role of a RAW agent in the film while Vaani will play the role of Akshay's wife in the film. Lara Dutta will portray the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
