Actor Richa Chadha in September had initiated "appropriate" legal action after her name was dragged in a "defamatory" manner by actor Payal Ghosh, who has accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual harassment.

According to reports, Chadha has also added news channel ABN Telugu (which aired Ghosh’s interview) and actor Kamaal R Khan (who shared it on Twitter) as parties to the defamation suit seeking Rs.1.1 crore in damages for maligning her reputation.

The matter was heard before Justice Anil Menon of the Bombay High Court via video conference.

Chadha was represented by Advocate Dr. Virendra Tulzpurkar, along with Advocates Saveena Bedi Sachar and Sumitra Radhika, who submitted that Ghosh had been served a notice. However, no one appeared on behalf of Ghosh.

The matter has been adjourned for October 7.
