A Mumbai Mirror report claimed principal judge Shailaja Sawant granted the actor and former beauty queen divorce under the Special Marriage Act. Meanwhile, their two daughters Mahikaa and Myra will reside with their mother at their Bandra residence.

Arjun and Mehra announced their separation in May last year in a official statement. "After a 20-year-long beautiful journey filled with love and beautiful memories, we would like to share, that all journeys have different paths. We have always been solid when it has come to us, we will continue to be solid for each other and our loved ones, as we embark upon a new journey,"

Post their separation Arjun started dating South African model Gabriella Demetriades and the couple soon welcomed their son Arik on July 18 this year. On the arrival of their new child, Arjun penned a beautiful note which read, “That gracious thing made of tears, of happiness, gratitude and light. A rainbow appeared into our lives.
