Los Angeles, Dec 16 Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones expressed her profound grief over the unfortunate Australia’s Bondi Beach shooting, which took place on Sunday.

With a heavy heart, the 'Wednesday' actress was forced to ask some pertinent questions following the incident, such as why are people not allowed to celebrate their festivals in peace, and why are students subjected to massive gun violence?

Pointing out the rising levels of toxicity in society, Catherine wrote a heartfelt post on her Instagram that read, "After a weekend of profound sadness my heart is heavy. Why can’t Jews celebrate their holiday on a beach in Australia, without being massacred. Why can’t young students study in a classroom without being gunned down. Why do our friends need to be killed in their homes. Hate, violence and abusive rhetoric has permeated to levels of unimaginable toxicity. (sic)."

Catherine pointed out that while it is okay not to agree with each other on various matters from time to time, what is not okay is to resort to such violence to deal with the difference of opinion.

"Across the board. Everywhere. Over 8 billion of us on this planet. We can’t expected to be liked or to like everyone. We can’t expect to agree with everyone or for everyone to agree with us. But why does one have to be killed for it. There is room for us all here on a heavenly earth. Hell is filling up pretty quick," she added.

On December 14, a mass shooting was carried out by two gunmen at Bondi Beach in Australia. The incident took place during a Hanukkah event known as "Chanukah by the Sea," which was attended by around 1,000 people.

At least 15 people lost their lives, while several others were left injured in the incident that has been declared a terrorist attack by the authorities.
