Choreographer and reality dance show judge Geeta Kapur's mother bid adieu to the world on January 12 this year after prolonged illness. On her mother Rani Kapur's first month death anniversary, Geeta informed her fans and well-wishers about this heart wrenching news. She posted a picture of her mother on Instagram and wrote, "And just like that it’s been a month already ... for those who knew her, loved her will know she had a tough journey these past few years but has finally found peace...she is on her best journey forward and I ask u all to keep her In ur prayers always just like she did for all those who came in contact with her ..#RANIKAPUR BORN : 04/03/50 DEPARTED : 12/01/21.

Geeta Kapur stated that due to the pandemic, she did not let everyone know about it. "DUE TO THE COVID SITUATION WE KEPT IT QUIET AND EXTREMELY PRIVATE ...FOR THOSE WHO KNEW AND RESPECTED THAT WISH I THANK U ESPECIALLY ...FOR THOSE WHO WE COULD NOT INFORM , I'M SORRY I COULDN'T REACH OUT. Love RANI KAPUR’s DAUGHTER Geeta," read her emotional note. Geeta Kapur is a renowned name in the entertainment industry and considers Farah Khan to be her mentor. She is fondly called "Maa" by her students
