Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay recently hosted a grand Iftar gathering in Chennai on Friday, March 7, 2025. However, the event has sparked controversy, leading to a formal complaint filed against the actor by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath.Syed Kous, the treasurer of Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, alleged that the gathering disrespected the sentiments of the Muslim community. In media reports, Kous criticized the event for being poorly organized and failing to embody the true spirit of Iftar. He further claimed that several attendees who had no connection to fasting or the religious significance of Iftar were present, which he deemed an insult to the community.

Additionally, Kous expressed concerns over the security arrangements, alleging that Vijay's foreign guards treated attendees disrespectfully, referring to them as "cows." He also pointed out that the presence of individuals reportedly intoxicated and behaving inappropriately added to the disrespect. "Muslims were insulted at the Iftar program organized by Vijay. The participation of rowdies and drunkards who had no connection to fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims," Kous was quoted as saying. As of now, Vijay, who is preparing for his political debut, has not issued any official statement regarding the controversy.
