After much speculations throughout the day, actor Riteish Deshmukh has confirmed that director and actor Nishikant Kamat has finally passed away. The 50-year old filmmaker had been diagnosed with chronic liver disease and other secondary infections. Riteish Deshmukh confirmed the same on Twitter and shared, "I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace." Previously, Riteish had shared that the filmmaker was fighting for life and had prayed for his recovery. 

Nishikant Kamat was known for directing Bollywood films like the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer 'Drishyam', and Irrfan Khan’s 'Madaari'. He has also worked with John Abraham in two films, 'Force' and 'Rocky Handsome'.Nishikant Kamat was also a very popular director of Marathi films. He had called the shots for hits like Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Lai Bhaari’ as well as Swwapnil Joshi’s ‘Fugay’.
