Televison actor, Pearl V Puri was arrested on Friday, for allegedly raping a minor girl. Pearl was remanded to judicial custody and booked for rape and molestation under section of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was arrested by the Waliv police late Friday evening under IPC section 376 AB, r/w POCSO Act 4, 8, 12,19, 21. Soon after his arrest, Ekta Kapoor defended him. Ekta even mentioned in a note how the survivor's mother had told her of Pearl's innocence in the case.
Now, Vasai DCP Sanjay Kumar Patil has said that the accusations against Pearl are not false. At a press conference, Patil was asked about Ekta calling the accusations false when he said, "No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why police has arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial."Pearl has been sent to 14-day judicial custody. Pearl's friend Karishma Tanna also shared a photo with him and wrote, "Satyamev Jayate. Truth wins and he did win. #gotbail @pearlvpuri #istandwithpearl #truthneverhides #pvp (sic)"Producer Vikaas Kalantri, Ruchikaa Kapoor, Mushtaq Sheikh also voiced their support to the actor. The alleged incident took place on a film set in Vasai, where Pearl was shooting in October 2019. Pearl V Puri made his acting debut in 2013 with Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat and rose to fame with Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil. He was later seen on shows like Naagin 3, Naagarjuna Ek Yoddha and Bepanah Pyaar. His latest stint on TV was Brahmarakshas 2 where he played ANgad Mehra.
