Late legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee's wife, Deepa Chatterjee, died in Kolkata on Sunday (April 4). Deepa Chatterjee breathed her last at 2:55 am at a hospital in Kolkata. She was 83 and died of kidney failure. Deepa Chatterjee was admitted to a Kolkata hospital on March 31.Soumitra Chatterjee and Deepa Chatterjee's daughter, Paulami Bose, told PTI, "Maa breathed her last around 2:55 am. She died of kidney failure. "Deepa Chatterjee was a badminton champion. She had also acted in films like Durga and Bilombito Loy. She got married Soumitra Chatterjee in 1960.

Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee died at the age of 85 on November 15, 2020, in Kolkata. He breathed his last at Bellevue Nursing Home after being hospitalised for nearly a month. Soumitra Chatterjee had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on October 6. After he tested negative for coronavirus, Soumitra Chatterjee was shifted to a non-Covid Intensive Trauma Unit (ITU). Since then, the veteran Bengali actor was under expert medical care with a special team set up to monitor his health. He faced secondary infections due to the Covid-19 repercussions.
