Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone in a acid survivor's role has been declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh. The announcement was made by MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Twitter. Taking to his Instagram he wrote, “This film which spreads a positive message regarding the treatment of acid-attack victims in the society, tells the story of their courage, struggle and their passion for life and aims to bring a change in the society’s mentality on the same,”

The film which releases tomorrow has been clouded in controversy amidst rising calls of boycott from some sections. Deepika's upcoming film Chhapaak is slated for a release on January 10, 2020, and the movie will also be co-starring Vikrant Massey. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie narrates the story of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, and the movie is indeed one of the most awaited films of this year.
