Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is gearing up for a grand theatrical release, generating massive excitement among audiences. The film’s advance bookings have already set new benchmarks, positioning it as one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema. Due to overwhelming demand, theatres are scrambling to accommodate more screenings. In Mumbai, cinema halls have extended show timings well into late night and even post-midnight hours. This has effectively enabled the film to run almost continuously, with two full cycles of screenings in a single day, highlighting the extraordinary buzz surrounding the project.

Dhurandhar 2 has reportedly sold nearly 15 lakh tickets across India during its advance booking phase. Notably, around half of these tickets are for special paid preview shows scheduled on Wednesday, just a day before its official release. With a runtime close to four hours, exhibitors face challenges in scheduling more than four shows per screen under regular conditions. The extended duration limits flexibility, making it difficult to increase daily screenings without affecting operational logistics, even as audience demand continues to surge ahead of release.

Leading theatre chains have allocated approximately four hours and forty minutes per screening slot, factoring in trailers, intermission, and turnaround time, reported Hindustan Times, citing sources. To manage the growing demand, several cinemas have introduced post-midnight shows for the Ranveer Singh-starrer, a practice rarely seen in India. These unconventional timings are helping exhibitors maximise screen utilisation while catering to eager moviegoers, marking a significant shift in how major releases are being programmed in response to unprecedented audience interest.

In Mumbai and Thane, theatres such as PVR Chakala and Movie Max Sion have scheduled shows starting as early as 1:50 AM and running until 11:30 PM across multiple screens. Additional late-night screenings have also been introduced at Movie Max in Thane and Connplex Cinemas in Ahmedabad from Thursday onwards. While such scheduling may not be feasible nationwide due to safety and logistical constraints, reports indicate that several theatres across western and southern India are likely to adopt similar strategies soon, expanding late-night viewing options to meet demand.

The film’s advance booking performance continues to break records at a rapid pace. Around 8 lakh tickets have been sold for paid previews alone, generating approximately Rs 35 crore—surpassing the previous record of Rs 25 crore set by Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG. Additionally, day-one advance bookings have contributed another Rs 21 crore. Internationally, the film has achieved a milestone by becoming the first Indian release to collect USD 5 million in pre-sales across North America. Overall, Dhurandhar 2 has crossed Rs 125 crore in global advance booking collections.
