Dia Mirza addressed students at the Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR), speaking on climate responsibility, gender equity and the transformative power of storytelling in shaping sustainable futures. At the prestigious student-led forum hosted at Harvard University, Dia emphasised that climate change is not merely a policy debate, but a moral responsibility shared by individuals, governments and emerging economies alike.

“Protecting nature is not optional. It is the most profound offering of love for our children,” she said. She added, “When our economies are designed to restore what we take from the Earth rather than deplete it transformation follows. Health improves. Livelihoods strengthen. Inequality reduces. Regenerative growth is not a sacrifice; it is an opportunity to build societies that truly thrive.”

A key focus of the conversation was the power of storytelling — how cinema, media and culture can move people beyond awareness toward empathy and action. Dia reflected on her own journey as a producer, sharing how she consciously backs and creates films that foreground environmental consciousness and sustainability, using narrative as a bridge between science and society.
