Bhooth Bangla has quickly become one of the most anticipated films of 2026, largely because it reunites the OG pair of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years. Their collaborations in the past have delivered some of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy classics and the duo is expected to bring back that nostalgic charm once again on the screens .

Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, the film is also tapping into a strong sense of nostalgia, especially for audiences who grew up watching their unforgettable entertainer. The teaser offered audiences a sneak peek into the film’s unique blend of horror and comedy, hinting at a fun yet eerie ride.

However, director Priyadarshan revealed that Bhooth Bangla goes beyond just scares and laughs, as it draws deeply from folklore, fantasy, and age-old tales that have existed among us for generations. He also went on to call Akshay Kumar “lucky,” highlighting their successful collaborations and the strong creative synergy they share.

Priyadarshan shared, “Akshay Kumar is lucky for me, Bhooth Bangla, which is rooted in fantasy and folklore. In our country, there are deep beliefs around supernatural ghosts, rituals, and even practices like black magic that still exist in certain parts, especially in villages. At the same time, when you look at quantum science, our Vedas, and ancient philosophies, they also explore fascinating ideas like the concept of the soul traveling beyond the body in search of knowledge.”

He further added, “Even culturally, we’ve always believed in the ‘Navagraha’ nine celestial influences long before modern discoveries caught up. These layers of belief, mythology, and science have always coexisted in India. That’s what Bhooth Bangla is: a blend of folklore, belief systems, and imagination. It’s not just a film, it’s a reflection of stories that have lived among us for centuries.”

The teaser of Bhooth Bangla was recently dropped, and it has instantly sparked a frenzy online. Blending eerie elements with classic humor, the glimpse has struck a nostalgic chord with viewers who fondly remember the golden era of comedy. Fans are especially thrilled to see Akshay Kumar reunite with Priyadarshan and the return of a stellar ensemble. The teaser has only heightened the excitement, making the film one of the most awaited releases ahead.

Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films, presents Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav. Directed by Priyadarshan and Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor. Releasing in theatres on 10th April, 2026
