Adrija Roy, who plays Rahi in the TV show Anupamaa, shares her thoughtful perspective on fitness and overall well-being in today’s fast-paced world. She believes that the meaning of fitness has evolved over time. “Earlier, fitness was mostly about physical appearance—how you look from the outside,” she says. “But now, it is more about balance. It includes mental peace, emotional stability, and having the energy to live your daily life comfortably.” She adds that while modern lifestyles have changed, traditional Indian habits still hold strong relevance. “Simple things like home-cooked meals and following a routine are very powerful. Our traditional way of living was always balanced, and I feel going back to those basics can help us a lot even today,” she shares.
Talking about increasing screen time, she says it is important to be mindful rather than extreme. “We cannot avoid screens completely, but we can manage them better. Taking small breaks, stretching, and avoiding screens before sleep can really make a difference,” she explains. She further emphasizes the importance of rest, adding, “Sleep is often ignored, but it is one of the most important parts of a healthy life. Without proper sleep, nothing else works effectively.” Sharing her thoughts on current health trends, she says, “People are more aware today, which is good. But sometimes they follow trends without understanding what suits them. It is important to listen to your own body.” She also highlights the role of discipline in maintaining long-term health. “Motivation is temporary, but discipline is what keeps you consistent. Small, regular efforts matter more than anything else,” she says.
Concluding with a simple yet meaningful suggestion, she adds, “Start your day calmly, without immediately checking your phone. It sets a positive tone for the entire day.”
