The Dirty Picture is often credited as one of the path-breaking roles in films of Hindi cinema which turned Vidya Balan into an overnight sensation. The movie which was produced by Ekta Kapoor was known for its bold and popular songs. The film which was based on the life of Silk Smitha broke all the stereotypes of male-oriented films in Bollywood. Today as the film completes 8 years Emraan Hashmi shared the film's poster on his Instagram. The Body star also wrote a beautiful caption which reads, "8 years of the dirty picture .. how time flies😃 . #thedirtypicture." Check out the post here....

The movie also featured Tusshar Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi and Naseerudin Shah. Vidya Balan won a National Award in the Best Actress category for her role. The film was one of those rare women based films which entered the 100 crore club at the Box-office. The film also established Emraan as one of the top stars in the industry. The actor will next be seen in a murder mystery oposite Shobita Dhulipala. The movie which is the debut directorial of acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph also stars Rishi Kapoor and Vedhika.
