Veteran actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita, are currently in the news after reports of their divorce, following nearly 38 years of marriage, went viral on Reddit. Netizens were left in complete shock, struggling to believe the news. However, Govinda's niece and popular actress, Arti Singh, has reacted to the viral rumours, calling them untrue.
While speaking to News18, Arti stated, "I am honestly not in Mumbai right now, so I haven’t been in touch with anybody. But let me tell you something—this is false news. These are just speculations because their bond is so strong. They have built a strong and loving relationship over the years, so how can they get divorced? I don’t know where people get all these rumors from—completely untrue. People should refrain from spreading misinformation about their personal lives. In fact, news about my divorce had also surfaced for no reason. Such baseless gossip only creates unnecessary stress."
As per the reports the separation notice was sent a few months ago, but there has been no progress since. Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, commented, "The couple has faced issues due to statements from certain family members. There’s nothing more to it. Govinda is currently preparing for a film, and artists are visiting our office. We are working to resolve the situation," a source told ETimes. However, Govinda and Sunita have not addressed the divorce rumours.

Sunita met Govinda long before his rise to Bollywood fame, during his final year of B.Com while she was in Class 9. They were connected through family, as her sister was married to his maternal uncle, Anand Singh. Their love story began when Govinda was launching his film career. They dated for three years before marrying on March 11, 1987, and have a daughter, Tina Ahuja, and a son, Yashvardhan.
