Since her debut, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor has been consciously choosing scripts that allow her to explore different spaces as an actor. Rather than staying within a single image, she has been experimenting with diverse characters and narratives, slowly building a filmography that reflects her willingness to try something new each time.

Akansha first stepped into the spotlight with Guilty, where she played Tanu Kumar — a bold, ultra-modern college student navigating friendships and complicated situations within a campus drama led by Kiara Advani. The film sparked conversations about consent, privilege, and perception, and for Akansha, it marked the beginning of a journey of learning and discovery.

*On Guilty’s 6th anniversary, Akansha shared, “Guilty will always hold a special place in my heart because it was my first film and my first real experience of discovering myself as an actor. Walking onto a set for the first time can be intimidating, but Ruchi Narain created such a safe space that it allowed me to really open up and be vulnerable in my performance. Sharing the screen with Kiara Advani was also wonderful — she was incredibly supportive from day one. We shared such a lovely rapport on set. That film gave me the confidence to keep experimenting with exploring characters and pushing myself as an actor.”*

Since then, the actor has been consciously shifting gears with her choices. In Gram Chikitsalay, she stepped into the role of a village girl — a character who, while rooted in a rural setting, is educated and works as a doctor. The role offered a completely different texture from the urban character she portrayed in Guilty, allowing her to explore a more nuanced space on screen.

Looking ahead, Akansha will next be seen in the upcoming courtroom drama Ikka.
