Washington [US], August 15 : Oscar winner Halle Berry has shared insights into the dedication and lifestyle choices that have contributed to her impressive, age-defying looks.

At 58, Berry continues to be celebrated for her youthful appearance and remarkable ability to tackle physically demanding roles.

However, the actress emphasized that maintaining her vitality is far from effortless.

"It's hard work and you have to work at it. It's a lifestyle," Berry said in an interview with E! News.

"It's a choice you make," she further added.

Berry attributed part of her success to her early diagnosis of diabetes.

"I think being diagnosed with diabetes when I was 19 years old has kept me away from the number one ageing substance which is sugar," she explained.

"I think it's managing to get enough rest, prioritizing your sleep and your health and your wellbeing is important. And it's hard to do that sometimes."

In discussing her fitness routine, Berry humorously noted her preference for more reasonable workout hours compared to her costar, Mark Wahlberg, who is known for his early gym sessions.

"Oh hell no!" Berry exclaimed regarding Wahlberg's 3 am workouts.

"Mama does not work out at 3 am. No, I work out, but at a more decent hour," she said during an interview with E! News.

Berry and Wahlberg are set to star together in the upcoming action film, 'The Union', which premieres on Netflix on August 16.

In the film, Berry and Wahlberg play Mike and Roxanne, former high school sweethearts who reconnect when Roxanne enlists Mike, a construction worker, for a high-stakes intelligence mission.

Reflecting on the film, Berry said, "It was fun. I think many of us fantasize about that one that got away or what if I would have stayed with my high school sweetheart, what would my life be like?"

Berry also shared her surprise at her enduring career.

"I never thought I'd be doing this as a career, and then at this age and stage still being able to work at the level that I work on," she said, adding, "But I came along at the right time when women are having longevity. There was a time when you were 40, you were kind of done. So it's so nice to be a part of Hollywood now."

'The Union' is set to debut on Netflix this Friday, August 16.
