Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 5 : As Mathura has come alive with devotion and cultural splendour in the ongoing Brij Raj Utsav celebrations, traditional performances, folk dances, and local art displays took centre stage.

One of the key highlights was actor Hema Malini's performance of a traditional 'Yashoda Krishna Play' during the festival. Her graceful portrayal as 'Mata Yashoda' depicted the beautiful bond between a mother and a child, captivating audiences while also adding a touch of spiritual emotion to the festivities.

Speaking to ANI, the BJP MP described the festival as a "fortunate" occasion for everyone.

"The Brij Raj Utsav has been going on for the last five years. It is our good fortune that such an event is held in our Brij. The local art, artists, shopkeepers, and vendors are given a major platform. There is also a separate section, offering different types of food. The cultural programs have been presented in a way that beautifully conveys the historical stories. This will continue in the future as well. This program is a matter of pride for Mathura," Hema Malini told ANI.

The 'Brij Raj Utsav' commenced on October 26 and will conclude on Wednesday, November 5. The 11-day-long festival has been drawing a massive crowd, owing to the unique blend of devotion, art, and local heritage.

Besides Hema Malini's performance in the 'Yashoda Krishna Play', the festival also saw many other theatrical presentations, including a 'Chanakya' play by Padma Shri awardee actor Manoj Joshi and 'Geeta Saar' recitation by 'Mahabharat' fame Puneet Issar.
