Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 27 : High praises have been pouring in for actor Varun Dhawan ever since his film 'Border 2' hit the theatres.

From fans to film industry insiders, Varun has received overwhelmingly positive reactions. Ironically, he was heavily trolled for his smile in the 'Ghar Kab Aaoge' song before the film's release, but now he's being widely lauded for his performance.

On Tuesday, his "dear friend" Alia Bhatt gave him a shout-out.

"Such a beautiful film.. @anurag_singh_films what fabulous performances by the entire cast!!!!! @iamsunnydeol @diljitdosanjh @ahan.shetty @sonambajwa @monajsingh @medhaarana @anyasinghofficial & my dear friend has hit it out of the park!!!," she posted.

"Doing what he does best pouring his heart & soul into every single frame.. so happy for you @varundvn what a smashing start to the year! Congratulations to the entire team," Alia added.

Border 2, which was released in theatres on January 23, is inspired by the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War and showcases how the Army, Navy, and Air Force fight together as one force. It brings Sunny Deol back in uniform once again.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Border 2 opened with solid numbers on Friday, collecting Rs 32.10 crore. By the end of the weekend, the film had raked in a total of Rs 129.89 crore. Sunday alone brought in Rs 57.20 crore for the film.

The film also stars Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles.
