For Nawazuddin Siddiqui, every role is an opportunity to step into a completely different life. With his upcoming film Main Actor Nahi Hoon set to release in Indian theatres on May 8, 2026, the actor once again takes on a character that allowed him to explore unfamiliar emotional terrain. Speaking about his character Adnan in the film, Nawazuddin shared, “The role of Adnan is very different from the other characters because I am playing a retired man. I have taken the experience of the age that I did not have from this film through this character, through Aditya's film.”
The actor also revealed how unique the filming process was for this project. “We were emoting and performing emotions on a small 3x3 phone screen. I have never done anything like this,” he said, highlighting how the format of the film presented an entirely new acting challenge.
Reflecting on what the role taught him as an actor, Nawazuddin further explained, “It is said that a good thing about being an actor is that we are blessed because we live many lives in one life. I had no idea what a retired person's life would be like. But through this film, I came to know what kind of anxiety, depression and other things would come to mind after retirement. So, this experience was amazing for me as an actor.”
Before reaching Indian audiences, Main Actor Nahi Hoon has already made an impressive journey across the global festival circuit. The film premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival 2025 and was later featured at the New York Indian Film Festival, where Nawazuddin Siddiqui received the Best Actor award for his performance. It also opened the DC South Asian Film Festival and is set to open the Bradford International Film Festival (BRADIFF).After travelling across four prestigious international film festivals and earning global recognition, Main Actor Nahi Hoon is now finally set to release in India on May 8, 2026.
