While Indian cinema continues to evolve, few names remain as enduring and distinctive as superstar Kajol. At a prestigious awards night in 2026, the industry celebrated her remarkable journey as she was honoured with the ‘Pride of Indian Cinema’ award a recognition for an artist who has shaped the emotional landscape of Hindi cinema for over three decades.
Present at the event in Chennai, actor Vijay Sethupathi shared a heartfelt moment with Kajol as he spoke about how much he admires her work. While addressing the audience, the actor praised Kajol’s performances and spoke about how much he enjoys watching her on screen. Keeping his words simple and genuine, Vijay Sethupathi said, “All your performances, I just love to see onscreen. Nothing more I can say, we are great fans madam"
Further, thanking him for the love and appreciation, Kajol said, “I think when you perform, you become a completely different person. I don’t have that yet, but I will strive towards it.”
Kajol has remained one of Hindi cinema’s most loved actors for over three decades. From her powerful performance in Baazigar to the timeless success of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, she brought a unique mix of energy, warmth and emotional depth to her roles.
She later surprised audiences with Gupt: The Hidden Truth, where she stepped away from her girl-next-door image and took on the role of an antagonist. Years later, she once again showcased her emotional range in My Name Is Khan, delivering a performance that resonated strongly with audiences.
In recent years, Kajol has continued to experiment with different kinds of roles. From the courtroom drama The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha to the darker world of Do Patti and the mythological horror film Maa, the actor has continued to explore new characters while maintaining a strong connection with audiences.
