Washington DC [US], February 21 : Actress Leighton Meester expressed her amazement after being recognised by young fans for her iconic role of 'Blair Waldorf' in the superhit series 'Gossip Girl', reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Leighton revealed that she was recognised by 'Gossip Girl' fans who weren't even alive when the show initially aired years ago. While promoting her new series Good Cop/Bad Cop, Access Hollywood asked Meester what it's like seeing younger generations fall in love with the hit show, which aired for six seasons from 2007 to 2012.

"Now people are like, 'It's vintage or sometimes I'm like, 'You weren't born yet when we started.' There's a lot of that. Or even when we wrapped. There's people who are just discovering it. I do think it's kind of incredible because of a time and place." said Leighton, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Initially aired in 2007, the American teen drama 'Gossip Girl' is one of the most loved series. It starred Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, and Ed Westwick in the lead roles, among others. Its last season aired in 2012.

Despite over a decade since its last episode, the show's fan following still soars on OTT platforms. Leighton expressed her views about why she thinks the show continues to find new audiences.

"There was no social media. I don't even think it was happening there was no such thing as that when we started, really.... I think people are very nostalgic for that kind of thing because...it's just comfort for people. Whether they've seen it once or they want to try it for the first time." said Leighton, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Gossip Girl centres on a group of wealthy teenagers through their day-to-day scandalous lives as Manhattan's Elite and how they betray each other for each other's gain. The show also starred Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Jessica Szohr and Taylor Momsen.

Meanwhile, Leighton Meester is all set to appear in the upcoming second season of Netflix's 'Nobody Wants This' and join husband Adam Brody in the TV series.

She will join as the middle school nemesis of Adam's onscreen love interest Kristen Bell, the streaming service announced in a post on X, reported E! News.

The couple, who previously appeared in projects like The Oranges, Single Parents and River Wild, often enjoy working together. The actor shared earlier in an interview that he and his wife "always like to work together when it comes up."

Adam Brody made a triumphant return to the spotlight at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, where he won Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Rabbi Noah Roklov in the Netflix comedy 'Nobody Wants This'.
