Washington DC [US], January 30 : Actress Sydney Sweeney has spoken about her decision to keep her relationship with ex-fiance Jonathan Davino largely private, saying it was important for her to have some aspects of her life away from public scrutiny, according to People.
In an interview, the 28-year-old Euphoria star reflected on her romance with the 42-year-old Chicago businessman, which lasted for over seven years. The pair were first linked in 2018 and became engaged in 2022, before confirming their split in March 2025.
"I was very private. No one would ever see us. I think it's important to have some things for myself," Sweeney continued. "I understand that I'm a public person, but I'm still in my 20s. I'm still figuring out love, and it's hard to do that with millions of people who have their own opinions of what that looks like," as quoted by People.
Sweeney added that she spent much of her twenties focused on her career and is now navigating love in the public eye. "At the same time, for all of my 20s, I put my head down and focused on workand now I want to experience things. But it's hard to decide that I want to experience love in the public eye. I'm just navigating it all."
The actress also revealed the challenges of dating after her engagement, saying, "I wake up and I find out I'm dating a different guy anytime I stand in a room where there's a single man," and admitting she has never used dating apps. "I struggle with being alone," she added.
Following the split, sources told People that Sweeney is fully focused on her career. "She's exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects," a source said, adding that her relationship and planned wedding had previously left her feeling "overwhelmed."
The actress was also reportedly "casually hooking up" with music executive Scooter Braun while maintaining a friendly relationship with Davino, with whom she briefly reunited with in April and November 2025. Sources confirmed that Sweeney has fully moved on from the engagement, according to People.
