Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 25 : After Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lauded noted singer Shankar Mahadevan for "displaying the values of Indianness and the eternal culture of India through his music," the Padma Shri awardee composer reacted with a thank you note.

"Thank you so much sir for your kind words of appreciation and encouragement !! It means a lot coming from you !! Love and regards," Mahadevan posted to X (formerly Twitter).

On Tuesday, Union minister Pradhan lauded the singer-composer in his post on X, "Whether I live or not, India should remain here - with this sacred feeling, today every citizen of India, especially our Amrit generation, is duty bound to fulfill the resolve of a developed India. National Education Policy 2020 is a medium to strengthen the feeling of Indianness, connect with the roots and be proud of the heritage. I congratulate Padma Shri @Shankar_Live ji for displaying the values of Indianness and the eternal culture of India through his music."

Meanwhile, Shankar Mahadevan on Tuesday attended the 'Vijayadashami Utsav' event of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur.

He was invited as one of the chief guests there.

On attending the special programme, Mahadevan told ANI, "I want to extend my greetings to everyone on the occasion of Vijayadashami. I am very honoured and privileged that I have been welcomed as a chief guest at this function. I want to thank the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and the entire Swayamsevak Sangh family."

Shankar Mahadevan began his address with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati for the glory of the nation and wished 'Vijayadashami' to the entire world

The 'Breathless' hitmaker also emphasised on educating youngsters through his music.

"I believe it is my duty to educate and transmit our culture through music and songs to future generations. I try to do it in my interactions with youngsters and children and also in my shows, reality shows and even film songs," he said.

Mahadevan also lauded the RSS for "protecting our culture and tradition in the country."

"I can only seek your blessings for the work the members of the RSS family have done and will be doing for the country. I can only thank you that nobody has put efforts as much as you in protecting our culture and tradition in the country...," he said at the occasion.

"Any tune (dhun) has Sargam (musical notes) just like computers have binary codes behind them. Similarly, if our country is like a song, then Swayamsevaks are like the musical notes behind it attending to various problems and challenges" the singer added.

On the occasion, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat paid tribute to the founder of the organisation KB Hedgewar.

Mahadevan also offered floral tributes at the statue Hedgewar.
