Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar heaped praise on Deepika Padukone starrer Chhaapaak stating that Chhapak is a film that has come straight from Meghna Gulzar ‘s heart . Art is to entertain but it is different from a circus . Good art makes you feel , think , grow . Chhapak does it…”Chhapaak was caught between controversies with certain section of the society deciding to to boycott the film  after Deepika Padukone visited the JNU campus, extending her support towards the student community.

Meanwhile, a host of B -town celebs and fans have been showering immense love on the film. The likes of Arbaaz Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Kunal Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackky Bhagnani, Yami Gautam, and Ranveer Singh appreciated the movie. Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey hit the screens on January 10, 2020. The film opened to positive reviews, with many of them hailing Deepika's performance and Meghna's restrained treatment of the intense subject.
