Taapsee Pannu recent release Thappad has received positive response from both critics and audience alike. Among the numerous accolades the movie has received so far the biggest praise the team has received is from noted lyricist Javed Akhtar. Akhtar wrote, "Today I saw one of the most sensitive , sensible and socially relevant film of recent times Thappad is an extremely well told and well performed movie . My congratulations to the writers director performers and the whole crew for this Mile stone of Indian cinema."

Soon after Taapsee shared the tweet and called it a mic drop moment for them. Upon its release the likes of Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap also heaped praises on the film which is helmed by Anubhav Sinha. The film also stars     veteran actors, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, besides  Dia Mirza, Manav Kaul, Gitika Vidya, and Pavail Gulati.
