New Delhi, March 8 On International Women's Day, actress Kamna Pathak noted how perspectives and attitudes on women is changing with time and also talked about gender equity on each day of the year.

She said: "Indian society is changing a lot by accepting the roles women play as breadwinners in families, professionals, or independent thinkers. Women have proven themselves time and again as equals in every aspect."

"I also believe that despite celebrating women on a specific day, we should celebrate, respect, and love womanhood throughout the year. It is because we all have different battles to fight personally and professionally."

Kamna, who is now seen on the popular TV show 'Happu Ki Ultan Paltan', told that the theme #EmbraceEquity is a perfect way to raise awareness of gender equality.

"We cannot have a free and equal society until women enjoy equal rights as men. It is a human right, and we are all entitled to it. Over the years, there have been drastic changes with better representation of women in politics, more economic opportunities, and better healthcare," Kamya said.

She added: "But still, in many regions, women continue to face unfair treatment, which needs to be addressed. Women cannot succeed when half of us are held back, so gender equality must be embraced by all the women in society, which is possible only if we create a gender-equal environment."

Making a pitch for equity, Kamya added: "All I want to say is that having a voice and speaking up for yourself is extremely important. It is not selfish but standing up for what you truly believe in and holding your ground to it. Be aware and express who you are and what you want out of life."
