Karan Johar’s Dharma productions on Friday announced that they will be recasting “Dostana 2”, starring Kartik Aaryan, due to “professional circumstances”.Reports about Aaryan being replaced were doing the rounds on social media since morning. Now as per a a report published in Bollywood Hungama, while the team had shot for 24 days for the film, Kartik had shot for 20 days and had later expressed his displeasure regarding the second half of the script which left KJo upset. And while the makers are planning to replace him now, it is will cost them a massive amount as he had already shot for a good portion. It is said that the makers have incurred a whopping loss of 20 crores.
As per the statement, the film will undergo re-casting and the production house has decided to maintain a "dignified silence". "Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence - we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon." One of the source close to the development shared, "Dharma is replacing Kartik in the film. The film has been in making for one and a half years and suddenly now he has creative differences over the script. They plan to never work with him again. He has been blacklisted. It is very unprofessional and it has never happened with Dharma that an actor has shot for many days and then doing drama." Further adding, "Kartik is an outsider himself and it is Lakshya Lalwani's film as well, which is getting hampered. It is very wrong on his (Kartik's) part."“Dostana 2” also features Janhvi Kapoor.Aaryan rose to fame with 2011 film “Pyaar Ka Punchnama” and later featured in films such as “Luka Chupppi”, “pati Patni Aur Woh” and “Love Aaj Kal”.
