Legendary playback singer KJ Yesudas has been making headlines with rumours that the veteran singer had been hospitalised in Chennai due to age-related illness. However, his son, Vijay Yesudas responded to the news and stated that the singer is in good health. "There is no truth to the reports of hospitalisation," said the singer. Aged 85, the singer has been active in performing on stage. In November 2024, he performed a Sankrit rendition of Sarvesa, a Christian prayer.

Yesudas turned 85 on January 10 and social media were filled with wishes and playlists of the legend. He is a playback singer and musician who has recorded over 50,000 songs in over six decades.Popularly known as Gaana Gandharvan (The Celestial singer), Yesudas has sung songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Telugu, Arabic, Russian and several other languages. KJ Yesudas has been the recipient of many prestigious awards including eight National Awards, and state government awards from Kerala, Tamil, Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and West Bengal. He was conferred with Padma Shri in 1975, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2017.
