Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh’s upcoming comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi is off to a strong start at the box office, with early advance booking trends signalling audience interest. The film that is positioned as a lighthearted entertainer is gaining traction among urban multiplex audiences and single-screen exhibitors alike, suggesting a good opening weekend.

Trade insiders report that Mere Husband Ki Biwi has generated a healthy buzz across major circuits, particularly in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Advance bookings began on a steady note and have shown an uptick in momentum as the release date nears. With a mix of comedy, romance, and a fine star-studded ensemble, the film is expected to attract both young urban audiences and family crowds, the experts.

According to industry trackers, the film has already sold a significant number of tickets in premium multiplex chains with early estimates suggesting a strong opening weekend in the range of ₹3.50 to 4 crores depending on last-minute walk-ins and spot bookings.

A trade analyst said, “Comedy films with a mass appeal tend to see an upward trend closer to release, as word-of-mouth plays a crucial role. Mere Husband Ki Biwi has a fun, relatable premise, and with the right audience reception, we could see it gaining further traction over the weekend.”

Arjun Kapoor’s return to his loverboy avatar, reminiscent of his roles in 2 States and Mubarakan, is a major draw. His on-screen pairing with Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh, coupled with the film’s madcap humour and commercial appeal that comes as a package of a Mudassar Aziz outing, positions it as an easy choice for audiences looking for lighthearted entertainment as opposed to heavy films like Chhava that are playing at the movies.

Single-screen exhibitors, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, have expressed optimism about the film’s box office prospects. A distributor from Uttar Pradesh shared, “Comedy is a genre that still brings families to big screens. The response to the trailer has been positive, the songs have caught on and if the word-of-mouth is strong post-release, we can expect solid growth.”

With pre-release marketing in full swing and positive word-of-mouth from early screenings, Mere Husband Ki Biwi is expected to see a solid opening weekend trajectory, with Friday’s numbers setting the tone for the film’s overall business. The real test will be Saturday and Sunday, where an increase in footfalls could even push it into the ₹20 crore weekend club.

If the film delivers good humour, it has the potential to be a sleeper hit, benefitting from its relatability and wide theatrical release strategy. Trade experts will be closely watching how night shows and last-minute bookings contribute to the final numbers
