Akshay Kumar weighed in on the growing obsession with sculpted physiques in the film industry, cautioning against what he described as “unnatural” methods of building six-pack abs during a session at the India Today Conclave.

Speaking about fitness trends in cinema, Kumar suggested that the pressure to achieve a chiselled body in a short span often leads to questionable practices. “A lot of what you see is being created. I am not talking about VFX - some of it is, but some of it is also about putting wrong things inside your body,” he said, without elaborating further.

The actor stressed that he does not believe in shortcuts and instead advocates a more traditional approach to health and fitness. “The natural way is our Indian way of making a six-pack,” he said. “Work properly, eat properly, have ghee, live a good life, be happy — you can manage it.”

Kumar also warned against rapid physical transformations, which he feels are often unsustainable. “I have seen six-packs happening in about four or five months, but that is all wrong,” he said, suggesting that such results may come at the cost of long-term well-being.

Kumar has been long seen as a fitness role model in Bollywood who has remained unfazed by  body image pressures within the industry. With younger actors striving to match his screen aesthetics, Kumar reiterated that being fit depends on balance rather than extreme measures.
