Netflix India announces the release of 8 new films which will skip theatrical release due to lockdown

Abhishek Bahchan’s Ludo, Sanjay Dutt’s Torbaaz and director Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy are all set to skip the traditional theatre release due to the ongoing COVID-19 locldown.The streaming giant has announced a line-up of different genres. “Our exciting lineup of content is across multiple genres and many formats. We are bringing heartfelt dramas, rom coms, thrillers and more, from amazing creators and talent, both established and emerging. We announced these Indian original series and films because our audiences love the dazzling diversity and variety of our stories,” said Monika Shergill, VP — Content, Netflix India.

The release date of Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl was also confirmed to be August 12, just days ahead of Independence Day. The upcoming Netflix originals also include crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai, starring Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui; Swara Bhasker's Bhaag Beanie Bhaag; Bobby Deol's cop drama Class Of '83; romantic comedy Ginny Weds Sunny, starring Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey; Bhumi Pednekar and Konkona Sen Sharma's Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare; Shabana Azmi's Kaali Khuli, a horror story set in Punjab; Serious Men - a drama, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nassar, Shweta Basu Prasad. Netflix has also acquired the rights for Gitanjali Rao's animated feature Bombay Rose, which is a film festival favourite.
