Prem Sagar, the son of legendary filmmaker Rananand Sagar passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 84. He was reportedly unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.
Prem Sagar received his training at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where he was part of the 1968 batch. He went on to work extensively under his father's Sagar Arts banner, best known for creating the iconic TV series Ramayan.
Ramayan was first broadcast on Doordarshan in 1987. Under the Sagar Arts banner, Prem Sagar contributed to several projects as a still photographer and cinematographer. He went on to play a key role in shaping the visual identity of many projects under Sagar Arts, the production house founded by his father. Ramanand Sagar is best remembered for creating the iconic television series Ramayan. Sagar is survived by his son, producer Shiv Sagar.
