The Screen Awards 2026 quickly grabbed attention after the host made a controversial remark about actor Rajpal Yadav’s cheque bounce case. The comment appeared to unsettle the actor, who was seen visibly disturbed following the incident. After the clip went viral, upon hearing this, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has also reacted strongly to this incident and has extended his support to Rajpal Yadav.
Salman Khan took X and posted a long post supporting Rajpal. He said, "Brother, you have been working for 30 years, and all of us have cast you repeatedly because you know your craft and bring immense value to the work. You will receive plenty of work at this very dollar rate and it will keep coming your way. The reality is and this is something to remember that sometimes things slip out in the heat of the moment. If you must give [money], keep it in your head but work from the heart; whether the dollar rate goes up or down, what difference does it make? Ultimately, the money is to be spent right here in India."
In response to receiving Salman Khan's support, Rajpal Yadav expressed his gratitude to the superstar. Replying to Salman Khan's post, he wrote: "Brother, thank you so very much for appreciating my 30-year journey. You have always guided me like a big brother. Love you, Bhai. Namaste!"
Here's the context behind the controversy
The incident began when event host Saurabh Dwivedi alluded to Rajpal Yadav's past financial case. In a viral clip, Yadav joked about currency fluctuations, prompting Dwivedi to retort that Yadav would still need to repay his debt, regardless of the dollar's value. Yadav initially appeared embarrassed but then laughed. Dwivedi's remark visibly surprised other celebrities present. Comedian Zakir Khan intervened, reminding everyone that the matter was sub judice and inappropriate for discussion at the event. The public humiliation of Yadav has sparked outrage among fans.
