Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 14 : The aftermath of the Sandhya Theatre incident in Hyderabad during the premiere of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule has become the talk of the town. The incident involved the arrest of actor Allu Arjun, followed by his release on bail, amidst an outpouring of support from his fans and other stars.

While many were shocked by Allu Arjun's unexpected arrest on Friday morning, renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma speculated that the move was orchestrated to provide a "big publicity boost" to the actor and drive the second-week box office collections of Pushpa 2.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, RGV wrote:

"Regarding everybody's SURPRISE SHOCK about why the Honourable Chief Minister of TELANGANA @revanth_anumala did this to @alluarjun, I think it is because he wanted to give a BIG PUBLICITY BOOST to the Telangana state's FAVOURITE SON for a HUGE RISE in #Pushpa2 's week 2 's collections."

He went on to describe the state's prosecution as "deliberately weak" to enhance Allu Arjun's popularity and box office hold.

"This explains why the STATE did such a deliberately weak PROSECUTION so that he could be BAILED OUT in a few hours and become even more MEGA POPULAR to RULE the BOX OFFICE for a LOOONG LOOOOONGGG TIME."

Expressing gratitude towards Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, RGV further wrote:

"Thank you shri @revanth_anumula garu, for holding the TELANGANA STATE'S PRIDE as SUPER HIGH as #Pushpa2 's SUPER COLLECTIONS."

The events leading to Allu Arjun's arrest unfolded on December 4 at the Sandhya Theatre, where he had arrived for the premiere of his film. A massive crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the star, and chaos erupted when Allu Arjun waved to fans from the sunroof of his vehicle.

According to police, this action contributed to the ensuing pandemonium, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi, while her son sustained injuries.

Allu Arjun was released on Saturday morning after spending Friday night in jail, despite having been granted bail by the Telangana High Court.

Speaking to the media after his release, Allu Arjun said:

"I thank everyone for the love and support. I want to thank all my fans. There is nothing to worry about. I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate. I would like to once again express my condolences to the family. It was an unfortunate incident. We are sorry for what happened."

The actor is currently basking in the success of Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar Writings.
