Washington DC [US], February 5 : Singer-songwriter and actor Sabrina Carpenter has revealed that a bird unexpectedly pooped on her hand during her performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, according to E! News.

Carpenter opened the Grammys with a performance of 'Manchild', the lead track from her album Man's Best Friend, while dressed as an airline pilot. The performance featured a choreographed set resembling an airport baggage claim terminal, with backup dancers portraying different archetypes of modern men.

During the musical number, Carpenter performed a magic trick in which she pulled a live dove out of a magician's hat. The bird flew away moments later, but reappeared at the end of the performance when Carpenter held it while sitting atop an airplane set piece on stage.

In a TikTok video shared backstage later that evening, the 26-year-old celebrated the performance with her team and revealed what happened during the live broadcast. "It...on my hand!" she said, as quoted by the outlet.

Despite the mishap, Carpenter maintained her composure on stage, marking her second performance at the Grammys.

At the 2025 awards ceremony, her album Short n' Sweet earned her two Grammy wins, and she performed a medley of "Espresso" and "Please Please Please" featuring intentional comedic gaffes, as per E! News.

Grammys host Trevor Noah praised Carpenter's performance at the time, joking about her ability to blend humour with music during the broadcast.

Carpenter has previously spoken about the importance of humour in her work. In an interview in October, she said making light of uncomfortable moments has been a way for her to protect herself and remain authentic, as per E! News.

The singer added that surrounding herself with a supportive team allows her to embrace her creativity and individuality in an industry where it is easy to lose one's sense of self.
