Actress Sherleen Dutt, who has been part of shows such as KINK and Honey Trap Squad as well as web series Koi Jaye Toh Le Aaye and Shringarika, says that Ramadan is a month of devotion. She says that she finds this period so inspiring by looking at those who fast. “Ramadan is a month of discipline, devotion, and self-reflection. Even though I’m not fasting, I find it inspiring to see people around me dedicating themselves to prayer and self-control. It’s a time when energy shifts, and there’s a sense of peace and spiritual renewal in the air. I respect how it brings families and communities together, reinforcing gratitude and empathy,” she says.
She adds, “I see religion as a structured path with rituals and guidelines, while spirituality is a personal journey of connection with the divine. I lean more toward spirituality—I believe in energies, manifestation, and the universe’s power. But I also respect religious practices because they provide a foundation for faith. For me, both paths lead to the same truth, just in different ways.”
She does try to be part of the celebrations. “I don’t regularly attend Iftaari parties, but if close friends invite me, I do go, mostly to share their joy and enjoy the warmth of togetherness. I love how Iftaar is not just about food but about breaking fast with loved ones, sitting together, and feeling a sense of belonging,” she says.
Talking about her memories of celebrating Eid, she says, “In my hometown, Eid used to be a grand affair—friends and neighbours would exchange sweets, and I would eagerly wait for sevaiyan from my Muslim friends’ homes. There was something pure and unfiltered about those celebrations, filled with childhood innocence. Over the years, the vibe has changed—people are busier, traditions feel more formal, and social media has replaced a lot of face-to-face interactions. But the essence remains: Eid still brings joy, warmth, and togetherness, even if the way we experience it has evolved.”
